The Suite Life of Zack and Cody is an American television series airing on the Disney Channel since Friday, March 18, 2005. This series original title was simply The Suite Life. The show's logo references this as it has a black sign reading "The Suite Life" with a paper sign reading "of Zack & Cody" taped on to it. The adjective suite has the same pronunciation of "sweet" in English, a clear reference to the twins' "sweet life" in a hotel, or "suite" as in a hotel room.
Zack and Cody Martin (Dylan and Cole Sprouse) are identical twins whose single mother, Carey, (Kim Rhodes) has a gig as headlining singer at the Tipton Hotel. And being the swankiest hotel in Boston, as part of her contract, an upper floor suite in the hotel is where they all live. The Martin twins were 12-years-old (mentioned in numerous episodes in the first season) at the beginning of the series and they are now 13 (mentioned in Moseby's Big Brother).
The sitcom is the second highest rated show on the Disney Channel, right behind That's So Raven. As of December 2005, the show was rated #336 on the Nielsen TV Ratings Best Shows of 2005.

Main characters
Zack Martin (played by Dylan Sprouse) — Ever willing to get in trouble, Zack always sets out to get exactly what he wants, which is often bad. He is a big Red Sox fan and he hates the Yankees. He loves to skateboard, play basketball, soccer, and get in trouble. He has also shown skill with dancing. He generally dresses casually (while his brother dresses more conservatively) and is very sloppy (while his brother is neat). He has a huge infatuation for Maddie (the Tipton candy counter girl and his babysitter). He hopes to become a race car driver/secret agent. Zack is only 10 minutes older than Cody. He played lead/rhythm guitar for Rock Squared (as shown in Band in Boston). He is a great bowler as illustrated in "Bowling" averaging 225.
Cody Martin (played by Cole Sprouse) — Zack's brother is the nicer twin, but he often plays along with his brother's schemes. He shows less interest in girls than his brother, but is smarter and more mature than Zack. And like his brother, he is a big Red Sox fan and hates the New York Yankees . He used to have a girlfriend named Erma, but she dumped him and got back together with her camp boyfriend, Joaquín. He has shown passion for magic tricks, baking, and cooking as well as mime and dance. In "French 101" it was shown that he has a Nintendo DS. He is a superb math student. He also cleans Zack's side of the room ever since he was 2 years old. He likes to have his "blanky" but quits having it in "Cody Goes to Camp" because he wants to "quit cold turkey," but resumes having it in "The Ghost of 613". He gets woozy riding in moving vehicles mentioned in "Dad's Back". He has expressed the desire to become a math professor and a Supreme Court justice. He wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He also wants to be a hockey player as shown in the episode The Fairest of Them All. He ran for class president in "Election" and won. He played the keyboard for Rock Squared as shown in "Band in Boston". Cody is occasionally predicting that Zack will end up in jail.
Madeline "Maddie" Margaret Genevieve Miranda Catherine Fitzpatrick (played by Ashley Tisdale) — The girl of Zack's dreams (and also his babysitter), Maddie works the candy counter at the Tipton. She also manages the Camp Tipton Daycare center. Maddie is very hard-working and caring of other people. She is also very smart, and often must find ways to avoid being blamed for the boys' handiwork while she babysits them. Maddie is one of London's closer friends, although London often treats her more like a servant, usually bribing her with 100 or 1,000 dollars. They often have little fights, but in the end they always make up. Maddie lives across the street from Fenway Park. In her apartment, she watches the Red Sox games from her window. Her father's name is Irving, as revealed in episode, "Pilot Your Own Life," where her full name is also revealed. She has an older, married sister who has moved out of the family apartment, giving Maddie their shared bedroom all to herself, as revealed in "Poor Little Rich Girl", which also describes her grandmother living with the family, and Maddie's parents having very loud arguments regularly. She has asthma as revealed in "Kisses & Basketball". Her hair tends to frizz up in humid weather. She is a strong supporter of environmental causes. She has dreamed of going to Paris, ever since she planned to go there for her parents' 25th anniversary. Maddie is very caring and helpful towards others (for the most part). She has a dog named Scamp as seen in "Crushed". She also has a brother named Liam as said in Day Care. Maddie is part Irish. She goes to the school Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow. Maddie also believes in evil Leprechauns as revealed in Books & Birdhouses.
London Tipton (played by Brenda Song) — London Tipton is a spoiled rich teenager, who at times seems very air-headed. London Tipton's character is inspired by Paris Hilton. London is the name of the capital of England. Paris is the capital of France. Both Tipton and Hilton end in TON. At times, although not very often, London expresses some form of instant intelligence. Her father Mr. Tipton is the owner of the Tipton hotel. Her parents are divorced. London has a dog named Ivana who is seen in a several episodes. London's best friend is Maddie. London seemed not to love anything besides her riches and her dog Ivanna but she has also expressed her love for her father, Mr. Moseby and Maddie.
Carey Martin (played by Kim Rhodes) — The boys' mom is the headline singer at the Tipton. She is a divorced single mother, intelligent, kind, and she loves the twins very much. In "The Prince & The Plunger" it was shown that her secret admirer is Arwin Quentin Hawkheiser. In "Footloser" we learn that Carey found her talent for singing by mistake when she was at a talent show doing stand-up comedy. In Moseby's Big Brother, she reveals she has a younger sister whom she no longer talks to. Also in Kisses & Basketball, Bowling, and Going for the Gold they show Carey kissing Arwin, who faints shortly after.
Mr. Moseby with Zack and Cody at Fenway Park.
Marion Moseby (played by Phill Lewis) — The manager of the Tipton, Mr. Moseby is often exasperated by the twins' antics. He often acts as though he does not care about the boys, though he secretly does, as shown in the episode "Big Hair & Baseball". He hates baseball and took ballet classes, which is revealed in "Big Hair and Baseball". It is implied that many hotel guests think he is a psycho because he winds up in weird situations such as beating up a baby toy in front of a guest. In "The Ghost of 613", it is revealed that he started out at the Tipton as a bellhop back in the 1970's and during this time he had an afro. He has been a surrogate father to London. He was hesitant to join into yoga as shown in "Day Care". He can speak French fluently. Mr. Moseby also has an older brother named Spencer (played by Dana Michael Woods), as seen in Moseby's Big Brother, but got treated unfairly because he wasn't "lactose intolerant."

She also seems to be London's best friend although the friendship is insincere as when the going gets tough, Porscha get going therefore leaving Maddie to help London.
- Wilfred Tipton - Wilfred Tipton is the owner of the Tipton hotel and London's father. He has appeared in "Not So Suite 16" but you didn't see his face. He is mentioned several times throughout the rest of the series though.

Unlike Arwin, although Irv likes Carey, he speaks 'smooth' to her with sentences such as "The name's Welden, Irv Welden. I liked to be shaken, not stirred."

Theme song
The theme song for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody is called "Here I Am" and was written by John Adair and Steve Hampton. Continuity Errors
- In Free Tippy, it was announced that Mr. Tipton has a strict policy of employees retiring at the age of 65. Muriel is over 65, as she was working at the Tipton in 1938 as mentioned in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Hotel.
- In Kisses & Basketball, during the scene where Zack and Max sit at the table on their "date", Max gets angry and throws a cream pie directly in Zack's face. The camera zooms out. Max picks up a cherry and puts it on Zack's nose. When they zoom up on Zack's face the pie cream is gone.
- In the episode Forever Plaid, Cody says "You're right, the penthouse does have the best TV" however later on in the episode, they're shown looking through the wall into the next room, but if it was the penthouse it would take up the whole top floor.
- In Forever Plaid, before the girls soccer team poked the boys eyes, in Bob's place when he was peeping you saw an eye looking back.
- In Kept Man, when Zack was at Theo's and had to give back the jumpsuit, you see that he has blue knee socks on; but when he walks into the Tipton, he doesn’t have any socks on.
- In Commercial Breaks, Arwin picked up a bowling ball to juggle as a part of his audition. But in Bowling, he said that he swore he will never pick up a bowling ball again.
- In Odd Couples, when Zack rings the doorbell on Cody's closet there is a mailbox but when Zack comes out the mailbox is no longer there.
- In Commercial Breaks, when Zack, Cody, and Carey got out of the elevator and wait in the line, you can see that Esteban and Maddie are way before them since they went to the back of the line later. But during the auditon, Maddie was just behind them.
- In Commercial Breaks, when Esteban pointed to the end of the line, you can see that Maddie is still in her work outfit, but later during the audition she's no longer in it anymore.(It's possible that she had changed)
- In Boston Holiday, in Mr. Moseby's attempt to plug the Tipton, he starts to state the number 1-800-555- (he doesn't get to finish it). However in Commercial Breaks, we see the number as 1-800-654-2192.
